The OZY Youth Choir Honouring Defence Service, Inc. is the world’s first online youth choir dedicated to commemoration, education, and welfare.
It unites young emerging leaders and veteran families, fostering a strong sense of belonging no matter where they live. With national reach and international partnerships, the choir supports veterans, their families, and First Nations young emerging elders across cities, regional, rural, and remote communities.
Led by Creative Director OJ Rushton, the choir’s leadership program features remembrance singing tours both on country and abroad, using music to connect people to history and healing.
Recognized nationally for its role in commemorative events like ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, the choir strengthens community and unity through music and storytelling.
In 2025, the choir will lead a 1000-voice performance in the Great Hall of Parliament House for Reconciliation Week, emphasizing its commitment to reconciliation and peace.
Its current theme, “Making Peas/ce,” in partnership with Hazel Davies, highlights collaboration with First Nations communities to honour those who have served and remembering those who died both on country and for country.
The OZY Youth Choir is more than just a choir—it is a leadership programme stepping young people into leadership. It is also a movement, bringing people together through the power of music to inspire, educate, and heal.
